Maryland Bryant Dealer Recognizes Rebuilding Together with Bryant® True Heroes Award
A local Bryant dealer recently honored Montgomery County community service organization Rebuilding Together with the Bryant True Heroes award for years of modest yet remarkable service. The Bryant True Heroes award was established by Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems as a way for its dealers to recognize individuals and organizations who do “whatever it takes” to make a difference in the lives of others. Bryant, a leading supplier of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment, is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Richard Biava, vice president of GAC Services, a Bryant dealer and Montgomery and Frederick county heating and cooling contractor since 1970, presented the Bryant True Heroes award to Tom Kollecas, director of program services, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County. Rebuilding Together provides small and large-scale home repairs, accessibility modifications and energy-efficiency upgrades at no cost to local, low-income homeowners, helping some of Montgomery County’s most vulnerable residents remain safely, securely and independently in their homes.
“We are here to run a great company, take care of our customers and make a difference in our community. We’ve been working with Rebuilding Together for years to serve Montgomery County and it’s important to us that people in this community realize how vital the work they do is. We’re pleased to play our small part in helping them make our community as strong as possible,” Biava said.
“The work we do prevents homelessness, preserves affordable housing, and allows our elderly neighbors to age in place,” said Kollecas. “Our work is critical to our communities and is made possible through the help and support of civic-minded businesses like Bryant and GAC Services. We can’t thank them enough for their support of our organization and, most importantly, the families we serve. It is an honor to receive this award on behalf of the entire Rebuilding Together team who work hard each day to help those of our neighbors most in need.” Together, Rebuilding Together and GAC Services donated and installed a new furnace for Harper, a Germantown grandmother. Mrs. Harper was selected due to her unwavering commitment to her family. She opened her home to her children and grandchildren, living with 10 family members for the last several years.
“I would like to say ‘Thank you’ to Rebuilding Together and Tom Kollecas for the amazing gift of renovating my home and a new heating system,” Harper said. “I am a single mom and my daughters and grandchildren have been living with me for the past four years and my home had gone through some wear and tear. I really appreciate everything that Rebuilding Together did and all their hard work. I am still in amazement with all that was done for my family and me. Mr. Tom Kollecas is a True Hero in my family’s eyes and mine.”
Bryant and GAC Services are proud to help Mrs. Harper and honor Rebuilding Together for its continued dedication to doing “whatever it takes.” For more information about Bryant’s True Heroes program, visit www.bryant.com.
